How to chat on WhatsApp web with UC Browser. Last time I
wrote an extensive review on the
new PC version of UC Browser, in that post you get to see
that UC Browser for PC is an awesome browser with great
features unlike Chrome that comes with many issues.
After trying the UC Browser for PC on several web-apps I’ve
discovered by default you can’t use it to chat on WhatsApp
via whatsApp web maybe WhatsApp hasn’t
included the support for the new PC browser. Well that
shouldn’t be a problem any more or a reason you should dump
the new PC Browser; I’ve ‘invented’ a tweak you can apply to
use WhatsApp web on your UC Browser PC.
This tweak we’re about to apply is by changing the default
User-Agent of your UC Browser so once you log onto the
WhatsApp web site your browser would be seen as Chrome or
Firefox, and you’ll start enjoying your switch from Google
chrome to UC Browser.
HOW TO CHANGE THE USER-AGENT OF UC BROWSER PC
Inorder to achieve this we’ll need to download an
extension; User-Agent Switcher, download it HERE after
downloading the extension place it any where or preferably
on your desktop for easy accessibility.
Now navigate to your desktop right click on the file
then click on “open with” on the provided list of programs
select UC Browser PC but if UC Browser PC is not on the
list click on “Browse” from there you can look for your UC
Browser PC select it and click open. After selecting UC
Browser the browser would launch and a pop-up would appear
asking whether to add the new extension, you click on “Add”;
it would then be added to your list of extensions.
After doing the above, a new icon would appear at the
top right corner of your UC Browser screen, that’s the
User-Agent Switcher, right click on the icon then click on
options and a list of all the custom user agents in
groups, the first group is ‘Chrome’. then on top the list
are horizontal input boxes to create/add another User-
Agent, That’s what we’re about to do.
on top the first input box is written “New User-agent
Name” you type in any name you wish or just put your name,
the next box labelled “New User-agent String” copy and
paste this into the box “
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1)
AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/40.0.2214.94
Safari/537.36” .this is important so you copy it
we now move to the next input box labelled ‘Group’, in the
one labelled ‘Append’ leave it at ‘Replace’ then the last box
labeled ‘Indicator Flag’ you also type any name you wish.
After all these click on the “Add” button, you’ll see your
new user agent has been added to the first group; “Chrome”
when done with all the above, you can then activate
your new user-agent, do this by going back to the top right
corner of your browser screen, click on the user-agent
switcher icon, a list would drop down, click on ‘Chrome’
then a list of all the user-agents under group Chrome would
show up, you then select the new User-agent we created from
the steps above.
congratulations, you’re now set to chat on WhatsApp via
WhatsApp web on your UC Browser PC.
